Wally aka Wallace is a handsome merle French bulldog with striking heterochromatic eyes, estimated to be around 5 years old.

Wally came to the rescue as a stray in early July when someone spotted him walking up and down the street on the South side of Chicago. He is the friendliest, sweetest boy and melts everyone’s hearts. Wally is extremely friendly to people and is always looking to say hi to anyone wherever he goes.

Wally is very healthy overall; however, he was very weak in his back legs when he was found. With exercise, good food and e stim and acupuncture- he has gotten much stronger but still walks a tad like his back end is a little drunk. While his walking may look strange, he’s very capable of going fast and it does not prevent him from running or going on long walks.

When Wally arrived in our care, he was very unstable standing up and would fall on his butt frequently and needed to be carried up and down all stairs. However, he’s been receiving weekly sessions of electro-acupuncture since he has been rescued, which have helped him greatly. His back legs have become more stable, and in conjunction with his daily long walks, Wally has gained lots of strength. Now, he is able to go up the front porch stairs without much trouble. All types of indoor stairs with low grip, like wood, should still be avoided as he could fall.

Wally loves cuddling and giving kisses. He especially loves belly rubs and will keep pawing at you if you stop petting him. He follows his foster mom everywhere and always lays against her on the couch when watching TV. He usually does not engage in playing with toys but will be excited to play if you pull a toy out.

He has never damaged anything in his foster home and is always very relaxed. In the summer, he likes napping in his bed outside in the shade or on a folded towel on the deck as long as you are outside with him!

Wally absolutely loves going on walks and he currently takes 2 or 3 daily walks that range from 45 minutes to 1 hour. He does not mind the cold, as long as he gets to sniff other dogs’ scents to relieve himself. He has not used the backyard despite us trying, however he might if there are other dogs’ scents. Afterwards, he can hold off going outside for 6 to 8 hours without any issues. He never has accidents at home as long as he gets at least 2 long daily walks.

He is reactive to large dogs and dogs that are loud, barking, or agitated. He is usually fine with relaxed, quiet, smaller dogs. If he reacts to a passing dog, it’s best to keep him to the side and get his attention to distract him. He can be stubborn during walks but can be redirected with treats. Wally is very food motivated.

Wally does not know commands besides “sit”, which he will do for a treat. He is quiet at home and will only bark if he hears a loud or sudden noise.

Wally sleeps at night in the living room. He has a soft stepstool that allows him to go up and down the couch, which is where he sleeps at night in his blanket. He will also sometimes go into his bed that is nearby. In the morning, he’s in the same spot that he was in the evening prior. He is not an early riser and will often not start moving until 9:00 – 10:00AM even if you are awake. If you sleep later than that, he will wait patiently for you to get up. He does not cry or whine in any way.

He is great with kids of all sizes and does not play rough. He would do best as an only dog, or with an older or quiet and gentle dog. Wally would be a great dog for a family who has time to take him on walks and spend lots of time cuddling with him. He would be fine in a condo since he does not need a backyard and needs to be carried up and down stairs.

Wally is up to date with his vaccines, neutered, had his palate surgery done, and does not show signs of skin allergies. He also gets weekly baths during which he is very well behaved when being bathed and dried with a blow dryer on low settings.

Wally comes with his bed, coat, harness and toys. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines, as well as HW and flea preventative. His fecal and hw test were both negative. Wally is also microchipped as well. His adoption fee is $750- are you ready to have your heart stolen by this lover boy?
