Nibbles got his name because he likes to nibble when he plays with other dogs or people. He was an owner surrender due to they could not afford his upkeep for his allergies and he did not get along with their cat or younger child. He can be a little anxious in new environments and can take a bit to get comfortable- especially with new dogs. He would be fine as an only dog or with a submissive dog his breed or size and smaller. He will bark and pant when he is in a new environment due to his anxiety but then eventually settles down once he gets to know his new environment. Into to new dogs need to be slowly and once he becomes comfortable with another dog in the home- he does bond with them if they are not dominate- he does well with the frenchie in his foster home after a slow intro.
Nibbles acts like a puppy for his age and full of energy and personality and loves to play. He will also lay around and relax as he loves laps, cuddling and naps. Nibbles will compete if he feels the other dog in the home is dominant or challenges him- so again, he would do best with a female submissive frenchie or as an only dog.
Nibbles can be a very local dog so he would not do well in an apartment or condo environment – he will bark sometimes when playing or bark and whine sometimes when he is crated. He will bark at other dogs and people in a new home. He is crate trained an does settle down in his crate but can also be left with the run of the house without causing any destruction if there are no other dogs in the home. His current foster dad works from home and his foster mom is off for the summer so he is loving having someone around most of the time and would love if his new owners had the same arrangement too. He is wonderful during car rides and good at the vet office too.
Nibbles has allergies and his previous owner couldn’t afford to maintain these. His allergies mainly flair up on his face- feet- ears and tail section. His new owner will need to discourage him from scratching or rubbing these areas to prevent them from being agitated. He gets his facial folds cleaned daily as well as his tail fold area. Every other day he gets his paws treated with a special shampoo. He also needs weekly medicated baths and ear cleanings to maintain his skin. He also is on daily allergy medication that has to come from a vet. Nibbles had surgery on his tail folds since it would get terrible infections and was so deep when he came into our rescue and that area is still healing nicely. He is also on a strict prescription diet for his allergies that he will need to stay on if his skin is to stay healthy.
Nibbles is house trained and hasn’t had one accident in his foster home since day one in our care but he does prefer to potty outside but not in the grass due to his allergies. He will go on short walks but would prefer to potty outside and go back in. He enjoys playing with his toys and chewing on his chew toys.
Nibbles is a shadow dog- he loves to be near his owner and follow them everywhere. His ideal day is getting some nap time in- a little sunbathing if not to hot out – some play time and lots of attention from his people. He would do wonderful in a home with experience with allergies and frenchies and that can give him love and attention -as he has much love to give in return.
Nibbles adoption fee is $250 and includes him being neutered-up to date on his shots- current on heart worm meds and negative heart worm and fecal- micro chipped- some of his current prescription food- some of his toys and his bed- leash and harness.
