Dobby Everyone meet Dobby, a 2.5 year old neutered frenchie. The moment his foster mom met Dobby he stole her heart. He is a big cuddle bug who loves to spend all day laying on the couch but also enjoys exploring on walks or playing with his favorite ball for hours. Dobby came into rescue because unfortunately his previous owners could not afford his typical frenchie issues. He is an allergy dog, being maintained on a prescription diet from Royal Canin called Hydrolyzed Protein, cytopoint injections to help with his paw licking and scratching ears.
Dobby also has bilateral juvenile cataracts. We have gone to the eye specialist in hopes that he would be able to have surgery to remove his cataracts, unfortunately after multiple diagnostics at the specialist they decided that he was not a candidate for surgery. They found that his retinas are too unstable as it is and surgery would not decrease his risk for retinal detachment or glaucoma. His eye doctor has him maintained on non steroidal eye drops and hydroxyzine (prescription antihistamine) to decrease watery eyes. As of now Dobby needs his eye pressures checked every month to monitor for signs of glaucoma, as well as regular follow ups with the eye specialist every 3-4 months.
Despite his list of conditions that one may think would hold him back, Dobby is unfazed. He is a happy go lucky pup that is good with all dogs and humans he has met. His vision at night is decreased, so in new environments when dark he does need a moment to adjust or he could run into something. However during to day he does well, only sometimes missing his ball as his peripheral vision fails him every now and then. He does good with kids as well as cats. He would love a home where someone is there most of the time but does well at home by himself when needed. He is completely potty trained, he will sleep with you or in his bed or crate, whichever is needed. He would enjoy a home with a furry sibling to play with and keep him company, he adores his foster brother. Dobby can’t wait to find his forever home.
