Daisy came to our rescue as a commercial breeder release. Age 5, she had never known anything outside of her crate. She was literally scared of the world.
Learning to trust was a very difficult thing for Daisy. She now trusts and loves her “people” (her foster family), especially her foster dad, as he is her “person”. She is still extremely cautious of people, especially men that she does not know. She will still run to her crate for security when strangers are in the house. She randomly gets anxious but I am sure that will alleviate in time.
She loves being around her family but also loves her safe space, her crate. She sleeps in her crate every night but we know she would love to be close to her family at night and sleep with them, if allowed.
She has come a tremendous way. She is a super sweet girl and loves to give kisses and get rubs and scratches. She loves her foster sister. She cuddles with and gives her kisses and tries to play with her. Mornings are the best, when Daisy first comes out of her crate, she loves to run around our basement and to do zoomies. She would do great with a large yard to run around or a nice open indoor space. She does incredibly well with stairs and is very athletic.
She loves basking in the sun, snuggling with soft blankets and stuffed toys and snuggling with her foster sister. When she was first introduced to toys, she had no idea what one was or what to do with them. Now, she loves playing with toys, balls, and chewing benebones. She has turned into quite the toy hoarder. She especially loves stealing toys that her foster sister is playing with. She also loves stealing socks and other random laundry items do you need to make sure you don’t have clothes laying around.
She is beautiful, adorable, fun and playful. She is extremely loving and very sweet. She loves hanging out and is a great office buddy.
She is very smart and intuitive. She is extremely attentive and notices everything around her. She has limited knowledge of verbal commands and understanding but she could definitely learn in time.
She would do best with a family with either no young children or with older, more calm young adults.
We keep her on a very consistent schedule and, because of that, she is doing incredible with her potty training. She will rarely have an accident in the house. We typically will have to pick her up each time and bring her to the dog run to go potty. Rarely will she go outside to go potty on her own. Once in the dog run or on a walk she does her “business”.
She loves going on walks and will do a happy dance when we take her leash out. She walks beautifully on a leash. She will notice every noise. Sometimes she will freeze and get spooked and fearful from loud noises. She prefers the quiet.
She is such a gentle soul and has never made a peep as she has never barked.
She has an extremely sensitive stomach and is on a very limited, special prescription diet to keep her stools firm and consistent. She loves her food, and due to her diet, we use her pieces of food as treats.
She would do fine as an only dog, but ideally would thrive better if there is another dog. She is nonreactive and would do very well with a calm, nonreactive, passive dog. Ideally another dog would help her continue to trust and come out of her shell and learn. A hyper dog would not be a good match for her.
She loves her attention and, when comfortable, if giving attention to the other dog, she will come and request your attention.
Any family that adopts her will have to be understanding and patient as she will most likely have to learn to trust all over again and feel safe. Patience and slow introductions are the key for Daisy. She needs a lot of encouragement and positive reinforcement. Once she gets comfortable in her forever home, she will be the most perfect girl!
She comes with her bed, leash, harness, food and of course, some toys. She has been spayed and all of her vetting is current- hw and fecal negative and current on her hw preventative as well as microchipped. Her adoption fee is $550.
