Meet Katlyn! Miss Katlyn is a rescued mill momma learning the ropes with the help of her foster brother. Katlyn has adjusted to her new life in her foster home quickly and sometimes her foster family forgets that she started her life in a mill! She LOVES toys – specifically benebones and her dragon baby. She will carry her dragon around the house with her everywhere she goes. Miss Katlyn is 100% frenchie and can be a couch potato ready for the next Netflix binge or a complete goofball running around the house ready to play. To say that Katlyn adores people is an understatement. She has loved every single person that she has met, and shows her affection with endless kisses. Don’t let that fool you though, this little one has a sassy side and will not hesitate to show it!
Although Katlyn has been warming up to her foster brother, she would do best in a home with no other dogs and no small children. The perfect family for Katlyn needs to have patience and a commitment to continue training her. Katlyn has exhibited resource guarding in her foster home over toys, food, treats, and her foster mom. This sweet girl spent the first 4 years of her life in a mill and doesn’t understand that all of this love and attention is for the rest of her life. She takes redirection well as long as you let her know that you are the boss. She eats her meals in her x-pen, separate from her foster brother (although she sometimes demands that you stand with her while she eats).
Katlyn walks on a leash in her foster home and has taken to that relatively quickly, although she has been known to stop and smell (sometimes nibble on) the grass. She would walk and explore forever if she had her choice. She mostly potties outside but has had some accidents inside. She loves exploring her new home and learning more about the outside world. If she sees another dog while walking, she will react by barking and trying to meet the new dog. Although she is only about 23 pounds, she is strong for her size and can pull so her forever family will need to continue working with her on this. Her foster mom walks her separately from the resident dog so that she can have 100% of her attention.
Katlyn has no problem going up and down stairs. She actually learned them without any help from her foster family. She also knows how to use ramps to get onto furniture that is a bit higher so that her hips, legs and back stay safe. She is working on being crate trained. If she is left in a pen, it needs to be secured because this sweet girl is resourceful and will try to jump out or knock it over. She sleeps in her crate at night (with her blankie and dragon baby of course!), but is also the ultimate cuddle bug on the couch. If there is a blanket nearby, she will burrow into or under it to get nice and cozy.
Katlyn is the ultimate lover and is looking for her forever family to snuggle up with, play with and give endless kisses to.
If you think you are the ideal forever home for Katyln, don’t have any other dogs and no children- her adoption fee is $850 and includes a bed, harness and leash, some of her current food, she has been spayed and micro chipped and current on all of her vetting as well as had her palate done and a dental.
