Maisey is a healthy 7 year old petite brindle girl. She spent most of her life in a puppy mill so she’s still learning how to enjoy life. It’s only been 5 months since she left her past behind but she has learned quite a few things. Maisey has pretty much figured out that potty time is outside and not inside and she will need someone who will stick with her schedule. She still has the occasional accident otherwise. So far, it has been too cold to go on walks so she goes outside in a fenced in yard with her foster siblings and comes right back in when she’s done. It would be preferred that she go outside on a leash until she has bonded with her new family.

She can be shy with unfamiliar faces and does need a little time and patience to warm up to you, but when she does, it is so rewarding to know that you have just been accepted into her tiny little heart. She loves to be held and will easily fall asleep on your lap or in your arms. She is currently living with 2 Frenchies and a dog savvy toddler in a calm home and she is doing very well. Therefore, Maisey would do best in a home with another laidback Frenchie and older children. She has not been introduced to cats so her behavior towards them is unknown. She is a very gentle lady but is still unsure of sudden movements and playful dogs. She does like to chew on antlers and bones but hasn’t quite decided if she wants to give playing a chance. Maisey would also do best in a home where she will not be left alone for long periods of time.

Maisey will need a strong leader who will be patient and teach her what it feels like to be loved and to not run away out of fear. She seems to take to men very quickly and needs a little more time with the ladies. She became smitten with her foster dad right away and will follow him around wherever he goes and when he leaves, she will wait patiently for his return. It took a little longer for her to be comfortable with her foster mom but now she follows her sometimes when he’s not around and she will happily accept an open arm or lap. Maisey is doing well learning to sit whenever asked to, and she is happy to sit and wait for her meals or treats, baby steps for her but big victories for her foster family.

Do you think you have room in your heart for a sweet little girl who’s had a traumatic life up until now and is slowly coming out of her shell? Are you looking for a Frenchie to shower with love? If you are, then Maisey may be the girl for you.

She would do best with someone who understands about a dog rescued from a mill learning to trust humans and not fear them- someone with lots of love and patience.
